Washington Naval Yard gunman Aaron Alexis began treatment for serious mental illness in August as friends of the shooter today revealed he was devastated last year when a Thai girlfriend left him broken-hearted. According to anonymous law enforcement officials, Alexis, 34, sought treatment from the Veterans Administration for paranoia, insomnia and possible schizophrenia just one month before his shooting rampage which claimed the lives of 12 people on Monday.  Alexis reported to others he was “hearing voices,” Alexis also apparently tried to deal with his demons by drinking heavily and by reportedly playing violent "zombie" video games for up to 16 hours at a time,
Prior to this, Alexis visited Thailand in March and April where he spent his time frequenting massage parlors and was crushed when a girl he liked rejected his offer to come and live with him in the United States because the woman 'didn't like black people.'
