It was no surprise that the Fox News anchors moderating last night’s Republican presidential debate were tough on the candidates, since right now the GOP’s interest lies in culling the field and testing all of the contenders’ mettle. They went about it in a particular way: by homing in on each candidate’s most serious weaknesses. Some of those would be a problem in the general election, while others are things that give primary voters pause.
