Couple Were Radicals, F.B.I. Says, for ‘Quite Some Time’. Trump Calls for Barring Muslims From Entering U.S. "For Now."
Donald Trump claims that his plan to indefinitely ban Muslims from entering the country is necessary to prevent another 9/11 style attack on the United States. 'We are now at war,' he said on Good Morning America. The Republican frontrunner's comments come after he caused outrage across the political spectrum with his demands on Monday for a 'total and complete shutdown' of Muslim immigration. 'I think that we should definitely disallow any Muslims from coming in. Any of them. The reason is simple: we can't identify what their attitude is,' he said. Trump was condemned immediately by both Democrats and Republicans for the idea, with everyone from Dick Cheney to Huma Abedin quick to publicly respond. He was even depicted as Hitler on the cover of the Philadelphia Daily News. On Tuesday morning, he was interviewed on several news stations defending the proposals and claiming they are no different to FDR's executive orders immediately after the bombing of Pearl Harbor putting restrictions on migrants from enemy countries. 'If you look at what he did, it was a lot worse,' Trump told GMA's George Stephanopoulos. Trump said he would not put Muslims in internment camps and clarified today that American citizens who follow Islam would not be prevented from coming and going, only foreigners.
