Worries grow that quarantine in China not enough to stem increasingly virulent coronavirus

The Wuhan coronavirus has sickened more than 4,500 people in Asia, according to statements from health officials. Many other cases are suspected but not confirmed. As of Tuesday morning, at least 106 people have died, all in China. 
The virus is believed to have originated in the central city of Wuhan, which has a population of about eleven million inhabitants. The city is under quarantine. 
  • Thailand has reported 14 cases of infection; Hong Kong has eight; the United States, Taiwan, Australia and Macau have five each; Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia each have reported four; France has three; Canada and Vietnam have two; and Nepal, Cambodia and Germany each have one. There have been no deaths outside China.
