Could the Democrats Blow It?

A major dilemma of the Democratic nomination contest is that it is a test of two important attributes: which candidate can beat Trump, and which is offering the most appealing platform to primary voters. These are not the same thing.

Kevin Durant to Join Nets in N.B.A. Free Agency.

Kyrie Irving Also Commits to Brooklyn, Cementing Nets as Kings of New York

Durant was with the Golden State Warriors for the past three seasons and is one of the best players--if not the best-players in the game.

NY TIMES

Kevin Durant shook the N.B.A. in the opening moments of free agency Sunday night, announcing his decision to leave the Golden State Warriors for the Nets on Instagram to the beat of a track from the Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G.
For the Nets, who also struck a deal Sunday with Kyrie Irving, it was the splashiest combination of moves they could have made after spending years digging out from the depths of ill-advised personnel moves and searching for a slice of the spotlight in a city long dominated by the Knicks. For Durant, 30, it will be a fresh start with a new team — a budding relationship that will require patience from both sides.
The Nets, who reached the playoffs last season for the first time since 2015, also  obtained DeAndre Jordan, a center known for his rebounding, with a four-year, $40 million contract, his agent told ESPN.

Takeaways From Night 2 of the Democratic Debate.Biden Comes Under Attack From All Sides.

Kamala Harris stood out from the 10-person crowd several times during the NBC debate. Her exchange with Joe Biden, who is leading in the polls, put him on the defensive.

Interrupting/the audience: Sometimes candidates need to cut in to offer an actual point of debate over a policy issue or if you aren’t getting enough time. But on Thursday night, the candidates interrupted over and over again, literally from the first question. They did so before they got a chance to even be neglected. They did so even though they weren’t necessarily disagreeing. It was grating. And it killed the debate early on. The moderators got better about cutting people off after the first 30 or 40 minutes, but it might honestly be time to talk about cutting people’s microphones off if they are abusing the format.
